Limit of detection: 32 pg/ml · Progranulin (PGRN) is an autocrine growth factor that plays a role in embryonic development, tissue repair, tumorigenesis, and inflammation. Recently, PGRN has been shown to bind directly to tumor necrosis factor receptors (TNFR) where it antagonizes TNF-α signaling, effectively blocking the pathogenesis of inflammatory arthritis in mice. Furthermore, elevated serum concentrations of PGRN are associated with visceral obesity, elevated plasma glucose, and dyslipidemia. In the central nervous system, PGRN is thought to be involved in neurotrophic activity and neuroinflammation. Cayman’s Progranulin (human) EIA Kit is an immunometric assay which can be used to measure progranulin in human serum, plasma, or cell culture supernatants. The assay exhibits a detection limit of 32 pg/ml and an assay range of 0-4 ng/ml.
