Collagenases

Collagenases are enzymes that are able to cleave the peptide bonds in the triple helical collagen molecule of human or animal tissues. Tissue dissociation is a crucial step in cell isolation procedures in which collagenase quality influences yield, viability and function of the cells. Therefore SERVA offers collagenases with superb quality and performance assured by e.g. GMP certified manufacturer with stringent quality control. The range of SERVA Collagenase NB qualities from Clostridium histolyticum comprise collagenases containing a number of other enzymatic activities as well as highly purified collagenases.

Isolation of Pancreatic Islets
Highly purified Collagenase NB 1 Premium Grade with very low levels of secondary proteolytic activities and endotoxins which guarantee for high yields and viability of isolated islets. Neutral Protease NB as essential additive for tissue dissociation with highly purified Collagenases NB 1 is provided separately allowing flexible dosage individually adapted to tissue type and sensitivity of the cells.

Isolation of Sensitive Cells
Purified Collagenase NB 8 Broad Range with increased collagenase activity and reduced levels of other proteases and endotoxin.

Isolation of Various Cell Types
Collagenase NB 4 Standard Grade, Collagenase NB 5 Sterile Grade and Collagenase NB 6 GMP Grade all contain collagenases and a balanced ratio of other proteolytic activities. Collagenase NB 4G Proved Grade is function tested and comprises collagenases as well as balanced mix of neutral protease, clostripain and tryptic activities.

Good Manufacturing Practice for Cell Isolation
Several cell isolations carried out with the objective of producing cells for human transplantation or tissue engineering require production standards according to GMP-guidelines. Collagenase NB 6 GMP Grade, Collagenase NB 1 GMP Grade and Neutral Protease NB GMP Grade are manufactured in compliance with the EU-Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice.
