Rabbit polyclonal antibody to Muc2 also known as intestinal mucin 2 whose expression can be detected in the colon and colonic tumors but is highly expressive in the cervix and gall bladder. It is found in the Golgi lumen. It provides a protective lubricating barrier against particles and infectious agents at mucosal surfaces and is a major constituent of both the inner and outer mucus layers of the colon and may play a role in excluding bacteria from the inner mucus layer. This protein coats the epithelia of the intestines, airways, and other mucus membrane-containing organs.
