The recombinant rat LAYN comprises 211 amino acids and predicts a molecular mass of 24.3 kDa. The apparent molecular mass of the recombinant protein is approximately 34 kDa in SDS-PAGE under reducing conditions due to glycosylation. A DNA sequence encoding the rat LAYN (NP_001178926.1) (Met1-Glu224) was expressed with a polyhistidine tag at the C-terminus.
