LDLR is a single-pass membrane protein, whichbinds LDL, the major cholesterol-carrying lipoprotein of plasma, and transports it into cells byendocytosis. LDLR can be ubiquitinated by MYLIP leading to its degradation. Mutations in LDLRcause the autosomal dominant disorder, familial hypercholesterolemia.
