Liver X receptors (LXRs) are importantregulators of cholesterol, fatty acid, and glucose homeostasis. The endogenous oxysterols werediscovered as the natural ligands for LXRs. Two isoforms of LXR, LXRA and LXRB, have beenidentified. LXRB is ubiquitously expressed.
