Basic Pharma is full-service provider located in the Netherlands that specializes in (bio)pharmaceutical product development, registration, manufacturing, and commercialization. Our biotech department offers a well-established infrastructure for recombinant protein production services and is progressing towards GMP compliance.

We focus on microbial expression systems, using both yeast and bacteria. These expression systems provide an animal free solution and offer several advantages over eukaryotic cell lines: they are faster, more cost-effective, and easier to scale. Our biotech facility is designed to work with genetically modified organisms (GMOs) up to containment level ML-II. We produce recombinant proteins at scales ranging from laboratory setups up to 50-liters bioreactors, delivering yields that meet the specific requirements of your research applications.

In addition to strain development and upstream processing (USP), Basic Pharma also provides support in downstream processing (DSP) and process optimization. Our downstream equipment provides us with many strategies to process your biomolecules. From developing an optimal purification scheme, to testing scale-up and performing purification, we can help you with the full process.

Every product is tested for consistent biological activity and delivered with a Certificate of Analysis (CoA) to ensure quality and performance in your application.

Key products include:

• Recombinant Human Serum Albumin (rHSA): Produced in the yeast Hansenula polymorpha, our tag-free rHSA is a high-purity, animal-free alternative to plasma-derived HSA. Ideal for cell culture, diagnostics and research use. Lyophilized from water allows reconstitution in your desired buffer without the need for additional buffer exchange steps.
• Recombinant Human Histone H3: Expressed in E. coli, this protein demonstrates comparable activity to calf thymus-derived Histone H3. It is offered lyophilized in low-binding tubes for optimal stability and sample recovery.
• Recombinant Superfolder GFP (sfGFP): Produced in E. coli, sfGFP is a robust, bright fluorescent protein for imaging and tracking applications. Its enhanced folding efficiency ensures reliable fluorescence even under challenging conditions. Supplied lyophilized for long-term storage.
