Local in vitro DDI testing for Benelux researchers

4 June 2026

Cell4Pharma brings advanced vesicular transport and nephrotoxicity assays to Benelux researchers, enabling local in vitro DDI studies and helping to reduce animal use and global supply risks.

Advanced transport and toxicity assays from the Netherlands

Cell4Pharma develops and supplies state‑of‑the‑art vesicular transport assays and nephrotoxicity screening tools for the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. From the Netherlands, these in vitro solutions support critical decision‑making in early and late drug discovery programmes, helping to identify transporter substrates, inhibitors and potential nephrotoxic liabilities.

At the core of the portfolio are transport assays based on human ABC transporters transiently overexpressed in HEK293 cells. From these cells, “inside‑out” membrane vesicles are prepared that are suitable for high‑throughput applications and provide reproducible, well‑characterised batches for consistent results, an important requirement for regulated and non‑regulated labs.

Fewer animal studies, more predictable development

By working with human cell‑ and transporter‑based systems, researchers can replace or substantially reduce many conventional animal studies on efflux, DDI risks and nephrotoxicity. The ATP‑dependent transport mechanisms in the vesicles enable precise quantification of uptake and efflux of drug candidates, while multiple detection options (radioactive labels, fluorescence, LC‑MS) fit seamlessly into existing lab infrastructure.

This in vitro approach not only lowers the ethical and cost burden of animal experiments; it also supports a more efficient and predictable development pipeline, with fewer repeat studies and less material waste. For R&D teams under pressure to accelerate preclinical decision‑making, this combination of mechanistic insight and reproducibility is particularly relevant.

Local partner for supply and support in the Benelux

Cell4Pharma vesicle kits are delivered as complete packages, including membrane vesicles, ATP/AMP solutions and all required buffers. This allows laboratories to start quickly, following well‑defined protocols and quality criteria.

Through Bio‑Connect, Benelux customers benefit from short communication lines, local technical support in their own time zone and efficient logistics within Europe. Within the “Local & Sustainable Sourcing” campaign, Cell4Pharma offers a powerful combination of human in vitro models, reduced reliance on animal models and a shorter, more transparent supply chain.
