RBC Bioscience introduces MagCore® Giga, a new automated large-volume nucleic acid extraction instrument designed for laboratories that need higher sample input, stronger nucleic acid yield, and a more efficient workflow for today’s molecular testing demands.
As clinical diagnostics and life science research continue to advance, sample volume has become a critical factor in sensitive downstream applications. Liquid biopsy, early cancer screening, minimal residual disease monitoring, NIPT, biobanking, and NGS-based testing all depend on the ability to recover high-quality DNA or RNA from biological samples where target molecules may be present at very low concentrations. For plasma cfDNA workflows, especially in oncology and early detection research, larger input volumes can support better recovery of low-abundance nucleic acids.
MagCore Giga was designed to meet this growing market need with a true large-volume automated extraction workflow. One of its strongest advantages is its unique 1 cartridge for 1 full 8 mL extraction design. The instrument features a 20 mL sample tube, large-volume heating capacity, pre-filled reagent cartridges, an exclusive 5 mL pipette tip, barcode scanning, UV decontamination, a 7-inch full-color touch screen, USB-upgradeable programs, and LIMS-compatible traceability.
For biobanking laboratories, MagCore Giga supports high-yield genomic DNA and RNA extraction from whole blood. For liquid biopsy and oncology research, it enables large-volume plasma cfDNA extraction for sensitive downstream applications such as next-generation sequencing, early cancer screening studies, NIPT, and MRD monitoring.
